In England he deals for the first time with tobacco. In 1883 Sotirios Anarghyrou, led from his commercial instinct, to immigration in the New York of America. There he was engaged in the big tobacco industry of American-Jew Tombon, which also in the end inheired after his adoption from Tombon. -With base this enterprise, the Anarghyrou builds a real commercial colossus in the space of tobaccos and extends itself almost in all the American market. -In 1894 he returns for the first time in the Spetses. He returned the next year when he is introduced - and little later wedded - his second cousin Evgenia C. Anarghyrou. -The pair returns in America, for three years. The nostalgia of his wife for Spetses forces Anarghyrou to sell his enterprises in America and return to Spetses From the sale of his tobacco industry and it only collected then the sum of 650.000 dollars. The return of Anarghyrou in the island is the beginning of growth of Spetses. His commercial activity is also continued in Greece . Spetses island however constitute the epicentre of his energies. In 1927 become the beginning of operation of Anarghyrou - Korgjaleniou college- which were the biggest offer of national benefactor and really went up the cultural level of island. The college was one from the best models of college in Balkans and was inspiration for El. Venjzeos, his personal friend and creation of Anarghyrou.
